2025 – what a year it’s been! We’ve been hard at work making your journey easier, and here’s a quick recap of what we’ve been up to and what’s new in the app:
Trip Assist
Just tap GO, and the app starts tracking you on your journey – it even looks ahead to see if there’s any delays or cancellations. If that happens – we’ll show you an alternative route even if you’re already in transit. If you already know your route, take advantage of Trip Assist – just tap on any departure, then tap GO for live ETAs and voice announcements. You can even change your destination stop while you’re on the bus.
Share Your ETA
Tap on GO and share your live ETA with anyone you like – it even works if they don’t have the app (they really should have it by now).
Live Departure Widgets
You asked for it, and you got it. Add a live widget to your Home Screen for all of your saved stops. It even works on your Mac, so you can check those train times when it gets close to home time. Driving to the station? You can see the widget in any CarPlay-equipped vehicle. Even better, in 2026 you’ll be able to add these widgets to your Lock Screen, and we’re in the process of designing a widget specifically for subway and metro stations – keep a look out for it!
iOS 26 and Liquid Glass
We overhauled the design of the app in iOS 26 to make it feel right at home, with full support for Liquid Glass and Apple Intelligence.
More cities, better predictions
We spent the last few months of 2025 overhauling our systems, adding support for new countries – hello Japan and South Korea! If you’re in Europe, you’ll find that the app covers entire countries now, not just cities: France, Germany, Spain, Denmark, the UK and Ireland are all included – everything from the smallest village to the largest city. We even included the Isle of Man – somewhere even Google Maps fears to tread. We’re up to over 400 cities now, and we’re just getting started.
In the US and Canada? We’ve added extra servers to keep up with demand, so you should experience a faster, more reliable connection. Travelling out of town? Enjoy live Amtrak, FlixBus and Greyhound connections. If you want to enjoy cross-country train travel, we can help you make that trip.
Unfortunately, some transit agencies struggle with keeping their data fresh, and sometimes that would go undetected until one of you reached out to let us know. So we built a new internal dashboard to keep track of all the moving parts, and it alerts us when data feeds from transit agencies go down.
So what’s coming in 2026? A whole lot! Here’s just a small taste of what’s coming in the next few months:

- Share stops, lines and ETAs with App Clips
- Add multiple stops to your trip
- Nearby Departures Widget (no saved stops needed)
- Smart Favorites (no need to manually add stops and lines; we’ll do it for you)
